Amendments to Hurt Zoning Ordinance

NOTICE OF HURT TOWN COUNCIL PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPOSED  AMENDMENTS TO HURT ZONING ORDINANCE

The Council of the Town of Hurt will hold a public hearing pursuant to Sec. 4-131 of the Code of the Town of Hurt, on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at 7:00 P.M. at the Hurt Town Hall, 533 Pocket Road. The purpose of this public hearing is to consider a proposal by the Hurt Town Council, as expressed in a resolution of the Council passed at its regular monthly meeting on February 2, 2021, to amend sections of the Code of the Town of Hurt with regards to adding use regulations to permit and regulate Solar Energy Projects.

The proposed amendments are as follows:

Sec. 4-1. Definitions. Definitions for Solar Energy Facility, Large-Scale, Solar Energy Facility, Small System and Solar Energy Facility, Utility-Scale are added.

Sec. 4-6. Use Regulations in Zoning District R-1 (Single family residential). Small Solar Energy Facilities added as a by right use.

Sec. 4-18. Use Regulations in Zoning District R-2 (Multi-family residential). Small Solar Energy Facilities added as a by right use.

Sec.4-62. Use Regulations in Zoning District R-3 (Mobile home parks). Small Solar Energy Facilities added as a by right use.

Sec. 4-82. Use Regulations in Zoning District C-1 (Commercial). Small Solar Energy Facilities added as a by right use as to R-1 and R-2 residential uses; Large Scale Solar Energy Facilities added as permitted use with a special use permit.

Sec. 4-88. Use Regulations in Zoning District I-1 (Industrial). Large Scale Solar Energy Facilities and Utility Scale Solar Energy Facilities permitted with a special use permit.

Article IX, Part 8, Sections 4-121.5:1-7. New Part 8 added to Article IX providing regulations for all solar Energy Facilities.

Copies of the proposed amendments to the Town Code may be found on the Town’s website or they will be provided upon request at the Town Hall.

The meeting will be held within Council Chambers, Hurt Town Hall, 533 Pocket Road, Hurt, VA. All interested parties are invited to attend and comment on these proposed amendments. Special provisions for COVID safety: Social Distancing and masks will be required at the meeting.
