State Senator Frank Ruff (l) and Delegate Les Adams (r) present Mayor Gary Poindexter with a resolution from the General Assembly commending the Town of Hurt for its heritage and accomplishments over the last 50 years, and its forward-moving aspirations for the next. The resolution was presented at our Community Anniversary Reception on April 2 and will be displayed at Town Hall.
This year, we celebrated our Semicentennial! Since its incorporation in 1967, Hurt has been known and loved for its pleasant, family-friendly atmosphere and sense of community.
The Semicentennial Committee, composed of 7 citizens from diverse walks of life, was pleased to work with Town Council, Danville-Pittsylvania Chamber of Commerce, Danville-Pittsylvania County Tourism, Pittsylvania County Historical Society, area business leaders, and the citizens of Hurt to make this year’s events meaningful to all who hold a special place in their hearts for Hurt, Virginia.
