The Town of Hurt is a municipal corporation established by the Code of Virginia, and operates under the Council-Mayor form of local governance. Within the parameters of state code, local ordinances and policies are enacted by Town Council and executed by the Mayor, who functions in the dual role of Town Manager. Certain administrative responsibilities are delegated among the Vice-Mayor, Clerk, Treasurer, Police Chief, and Public Works Director.
