Code of Ordinances

Hurt's entire Code of Ordinances "book" has been completely recodified (rewritten to current legal standards) and is now maintained online. This is the culmination of a lengthy project that was completed in Spring 2025. The purpose of this endeavor is fourfold: (1) address inconsistencies and outdated language; (2) clarify and simplify existing requirements; (3) incorporate current legal developments and precedents; (4) improve accessibility and efficiency for users by utilizing platforms and technologies that are well-suited for the current time period and public preferences.

Our entire Code of Ordinances is now accessible from any place and time worldwide with a suitable Internet connection. Simply click the "Code of Ordinances Library Link" button at left, which takes you directly to the site. Note: this is an external link to Municode, a nationally recognized company that provides this service to many local governments across the U.S., including our neighboring town of Altavista.

Important Note: This Municode Library of Hurt Town Ordinances is now the actual, official Code Book for our town. It replaces and supersedes any and all previous versions.
